Our History
We were founded in 1971 by Pauline Cohen, a social worker who realized that many of the families that she was working with, were facing cancer and its unique emotional effects on family dynamics. With a financial loan from the Cancer Control Council and the approval of the Cincinnati Academy of medicine, she formed Cancer Family Care and modeled it after Cancer Care, a similar organization in New York City. Pauline added “Family” because she knew that more than just the cancer patient needed help.
